New Year in Fall
Looking for some September quilting inspiration? Planning fall and holiday quilt projects? Fall is almost upon us and it feels like a fresh start!!
For as long as I can remember, September has always felt like new year to me.
Sure, the real New Year is great, full of interesting possibilities for the year ahead. But to be honest, I’m still usually on vacay and out of the office at New Year.
There’s also too much pressure on that one day for my taste. And while I like to do goal setting then too, at New Year’s I’m typically still just recovering from the holidays.
But SEPTEMBER – September y’all is where it’s at for me! In September, school has started back. The getting-back-to-school is mostly done and we are starting to settle into a weekly routine. At this point, I feel like I have a much better sense of what the next few months will look like.
Fake Fall
September typically gives us Northern Floridians our first “fake fall”. Typically, temps drop from the “feels like” in the 100s all the way down to the 80s!! The humidity drops from swamp to pleasant and the morning temp can be 70s or even 60s – BRRRRR!
Then a couple days pass and we are quickly reminded it’s just fake fall and too early to celebrate. The dog days of summer are still here.
In fact, just next week it will be in the low to mid 90s again! But another fake fall will be here again soon too.

September is so very full of possibility, inspiration, anticipation, and comfort of knowing what’s on my plate for the next several months.
I do love summer so very much, but September – y’all that’s my jam!
It’s September again now…and I’m feeling alive and joyful again!
Family Life & Finding Balance
This fall, I’m still working my full-time job in mental health. I still have one kiddo left at home and one enjoying college life. I still enjoy connecting with my DH (Dear Husband), who is an amazing dad and husband. These things are my heartbeat and my lifeline – they fill my life with purpose and love and immense satisfaction.
While family isn’t problem free, they are my absolute priority and my first-and-forever loves.
I’ve also been diving headfirst into Hoops & Hoots (H&H). H&H is my passion project – it brings me so much joy and has made me learn so much recently. My sweet family have been so great about this passion project of mine. They are always the first to ask what I’m working on now. They are the first ones on Instagram to like my posts. Isn’t that precious?! I’m so blessed to be momma to a very loving family!!
September has me planning! Joyfully!
My Creative Projects for Fall
So, what am I working on??
52 Quilts in 52 Weeks (Fresh Remix of the 52 Quilts Challenge)

Drum roll please… I’m re-working my crazy 52 Quilts in 52 weeks quilting project (aka 52 Quilts Challenge)!!!
I’m so stinking excited I can hardly contain myself! Check out my first go around of this 52 quilts challenge here.
I’ll be posting MUCH MORE about this re-mix and my currently overflowing room of WIPs (Works in Progress) very shortly – I’ve already started prepping! Some fall quilting inspiration is on its way!
Etsy Quilt Shop Fun
I’ve also been having an absolute blast designing quilter-themed shirts and tumblers that have me just tickled. Check out my Etsy Quilt Shop here.
It takes me HOURS for me to design one shirt and publish it in my Etsy shop, but it feels like pure joy. DH has let me chat endlessly about it and I’m so thankful he tolerates me!

Fall Family Focus
There’s plenty of non-quilting September excitement as well! Family life is definitely busy in fall. My daughter plays travel soccer and we have started back in full force. High school soccer will also be very soon.
By the way, I can’t even describe how much I absolutely adore watching my kids play the sport they’ve both loved since they were each about 3 years old. It’s one of my favorite things we do on weekends. When they aren’t playing (usually only in summer), we hardly know what to do with our time!

We are also a Scouting family. I have one Eagle Scout already and my daughter is working diligently toward hers also. We do Scouts Sunday where she carves out time each week to advance her agenda on all the things SHE is working on – she’s a very busy young lady!!
My sweet son is in college and (hopefully) living his best life! He is thriving – learning, working, researching and volunteering in his field (marine science currently). He has a robust friend group and assures me he is still physically active and studying enough! We’ve always approached parenting him with the adage, “We’re trying to raise a man here”. We honestly couldn’t be any prouder of the man he is continuing to become.
I could go on and on and on about my sweet family. But I also want to be respectful of their privacy and online presence. So I’ll try to contain myself and not overshare!
Looking Ahead
I may also have something else going on in September (don’t I always?!), but I’m not quite ready to announce that yet. So stay tuned…
