Welcome Back! Hoops & Hoots has taken a break while I redesigned the website. Admittedly, this took a looonnnnng time since Hoops & Hoots is my passion project and not my main job!
The original goal for Hoops & Hoots was to foster online community and be a landing page for creativity – I’m a social person and really enjoy both quilting and people!
The old website didn’t allow for comments or any way for me to integrate ways to design and sell patterns. I’m currently using Etsy and probably still will for some of the Print-on-Demand quilting related products I’ve designed, but I also wanted an online shop here on the website.
Aaaannnnddd! In the struggle to figure out my new website, I let my 52 Quilts in 52 Weeks challenge slip to the side. I actually was hanging in there really well with the pace of the challenge. Lord knows I have gobs of UFO’s (unfinished objects) / WIPs (works in progress) to more than fill up the challenge. But once I realized no one would ever be able to comment, I didn’t want to keep creating content that I would just have to migrate all over later.
I originally built the Hoops & Hoots website with GoDaddy Website Builder, which is fantastic for non techy people like me. I’m much better at my day job than I am at website design! The website builder actually worked perfect for my day job where we don’t sell anything and we don’t want people to comment sensitive information on the website (my day job is in mental health). But it just wasn’t going to work for this passion project.
Thus, Hoops & Hoots is reborn! I won’t embarass myself by telling you all the different ways in which I tried to learn WordPress, but I think I finally have it figured out on a super basic level. It’s not as hard as I thought, but certainly not as foolproof, intuitive, and easy as the website builder was.
So please join me as I relaunch Hoops & Hoots! I’ve been working hard behind the scenes to design products, plan my relaunch, and map out my 2nd attempt at the 52 Quilts in 52 Weeks challenge! DH keeps asking me, what are you working on now? 🙂 I have some products already designed in my Etsy shop and they would make GREAT GIFTS for the quilter in your life, or yourself! Check out the Etsy shop just in time for holiday gift giving – some items would be fun stocking stuffers (even for your own stocking!)!
Stay tuned while I merge content from my old website, including some tutorials! Welcome back and I hope you’ll follow along and share your quilting passion with me!
